Giving away a few tricks of the trade

Free fact sheets covering the basics of media relations are now available for download from Rhian's website. The first in the series cover press release writing (with a handy checklist), features and letters to editors, photographs and filming and some simple dos and don't for building successful relationships with journalists.

A range of tips for successful copywriting will be available in the next few months.

Another year of helping students to aim higher

Rhian is once again pleased to be providing professional input into the Aimhigher English project co-ordinated by The University of Winchester. The initiative aims to help raise attainment in GCSE English by offering Year 10 pupils from Hampshire Schools the opportunity to work with communications professionals.

Top tips inspire at Basingstoke Business Event

Rhian teamed up with Briscoe PR to reveal the top 5 tips for a great news release at Business Link's Be Inspired event in Basingstoke. Rhian and Kevin, who are both ex-journalists, shared their insider knowledge of newsrooms at the well-attended and well-received workshop which aimed to show delegates how to think like a journalist and sell in stories they will want to cover. Praise for PR professionals of the future

Rhian has again been asked to help the CIPR Wessex region find the best dissertation written by PR students from Bournemouth University. The award is a great way to spot future talent and keep up to date with academic research into PR and related fields.

Rhian represents Wessex as a CIPR PRide Award judge

Rhian was pleased to represent the CIPR Wessex region as a judge at this year's regional PRide awards. Judging took place at the CIPR headquarters in London and was also a chance to meet other PR professionals from across the UK. Winners will be announced in the autumn.
